The Port Costa Museum and Archives Project

The Port Costa Museum and Archives Project was launched in 2019 by a group of PCCS volunteers. We have been actively collecting and cataloging artifacts, documents, news articles, photographs, and oral history interviews. Our mission is to keep Port Costa’s history safe and accessible for the benefit of current and future generations.

Housed in the historic 1911 Port Costa School, volunteers at the Port Costa Museum invite you to explore Port Costa history with our docent-led tours of the school. We share the history of the town, the significance of the school and its ongoing restoration. People of all ages are invited to enjoy taking this step back in time.

Tours of the school and walking tours of historic Port Costa, can be scheduled by contacting Suzanne Statler via the form below. A donation of $10.00 per person is suggested.

Monetary donations to the Museum can be made through our website’s donate page. All donations are tax-deductible.

The Port Costa Museum is managed and operated by the Port Costa Conservation Society – a 501(c)(3).

1933 Studebaker Fire Engine

The Port Costa Museum’s largest artifact is our 1933 Studebaker Fire Engine (see photo above). It was the town’s first motorized fire engine and was purchased in 1936 with the proceeds from the town women’s bake sales. It was donated to the Port Costa Conservation Society by the Crockett Carquinez Firefighters Association in 2019 and is displayed and driven as a self-propelled piece of Port Costa history.
